Ollama released v0.40.8 on October 21, 2026, headlined by the addition of Flint, Recursive's coding model. Read the release notes.

The Flint model

Flint is an Apache 2.0-licensed, 40B-parameter mixture-of-experts model (the model page lists 39.8B) with approximately 2.5B parameters active per token. It is designed for the work coding agents do across a repository: understanding unfamiliar code, tracing bugs, implementing features and adding tests. Reasoning, multi-turn tool use and a 262K-token context window support longer tasks across files and tool interactions. It runs with:

ollama run flint

In Recursive's release evaluations, the model scores 54.9% on Terminal-Bench 2.1 and 74.2% on SWE-bench Verified — vendor-reported figures. The model library page lists a 23 GB download with a 256K context window and shows Flint usable in agent launchers including ollama launch claude --model flint, OpenCode, Hermes Agent and OpenClaw.

Platform support

The release notes state that Flint is supported on macOS, with other GPU support to be enabled in a subsequent release.

Recent Ollama releases are covered in our reports on v0.40.7, v0.40.6 and v0.40.5.
