GitHub made Gemini 4 Argon generally available in GitHub Copilot on October 13, 2026. The changelog entry describes the model as designed for complex coding, agentic and reasoning tasks, and states that in early testing it solved more tasks than previous Gemini models on every coding benchmark, with the largest gains in Copilot CLI. Where it is available

Gemini 4 Argon is offered to Copilot Pro+, Max, Business and Enterprise users, selectable in the model picker in Visual Studio Code, Visual Studio, Copilot CLI, the GitHub Copilot coding agent, the Copilot app, JetBrains IDEs, Xcode and Eclipse. Rollout is gradual, so the model may not appear for every account immediately.

Billing and administration

  • The model is billed at provider list pricing under usage-based billing; GitHub points to its models-and-pricing documentation for details.
  • Copilot Enterprise and Business administrators manage access through the model policy in Copilot settings; new models are enabled by default unless the global default was turned off or the model is explicitly disabled.

These performance claims come from GitHub's early testing rather than an independent benchmark. The GitHub Copilot profile lists official entry points, and the Gemini profile covers the model family.
