In an October 13 engineering post, Anthropic says daily code merges grew from roughly 2,500 in May to more than 30,000 in September. The company built an internal source-control system, Scion, and migrated its monorepo from Git over five months.
The post describes infrastructure designed around always-online agents and jobs, together with related review, search and access-control tools. Anthropic presents this as a response to its unusually large internal workload.
Merge counts measure software-development activity. They do not by themselves prove that AI systems have become independently self-improving, or that the same productivity gain applies to every engineering team.
