Tonefold is an independent AI-assisted music-composition app. It builds musical parts such as chords, melody, bass and drums in an editable piano roll, rather than returning only a finished audio clip.
The repository describes built-in playback, MIDI and WAV export, and optional CLAP/VST3 plugins for a digital audio workstation. macOS and Windows builds are documented.
AI chat requires the documented model setup, such as a signed-in Claude Code environment or an Ollama server; the app should not be presented as including unlimited free model access. The project uses GPL-3.0-or-later and is not an official Anthropic product.
